Meet Alex, #s-parents Channel Lead on Hive Slack

Alex Wolfe leads our #s-parents channel on Hive Slack: a space where parents from all over the world in the farmed animal advocacy movement can connect, share advice, and support one another.

Among the many roles Alex has taken on (including a decade as a professional actor!) she is now a Senior Regional Organizing Manager at The Humane League. From center stage to the heart of farmed animal advocacy, her path is a reminder that bold shifts are possible, and that the skills we carry from one chapter can shape the next.

To us at Hive, she's a generous volunteer channel lead and a thoughtful presence helping to build a more connected, caring community.

Behind the Channel with Alex Wolfe

Hive’s Community Coordinator, Nazlı asked Alex a few questions about Alex’s journey and what keeps her motivated.

Nazlı: Can you tell us a bit about your background and the work you do — whether in advocacy, your profession, or elsewhere?

Alex: As Senior Regional Organizing Manager at The Humane League, I empower activists nationwide to dismantle cruel supply chains and build a kinder world. My story is a testament to the power of aligning your career with your values — proving that every role can be a stepping stone toward making a real difference.

Nazlı: What inspired you to lead this Slack channel, and why does this topic matter to you personally?

Alex: Parenting and animal advocacy both require immense dedication. This Hive channel is a resource hub and support system for parents in our movement, and I’m honored to be leading it. We’re breaking down barriers, sharing practical tips — from vegan family meals to navigating conferences with kids — and fostering a culture of inclusivity. Together, we’re proving that raising the next generation of changemakers is a powerful act of advocacy.

Nazlı: Would you mind sharing something that helps you stay connected and grounded — maybe favorite pastimes or books?

Alex: When I’m not busy changing the world, you might find me bluffing my way through a poker night with friends!

My bookshelf currently features The Overstory by Richard Powers and All Fours by Miranda July — both absolute must-reads.

I fuel my activism and daily life with a whole-food, plant-based diet… though I confess, a warm chocolate chip cookie is my ultimate kryptonite.

Nazlı: Which resources would you say inspire your work?

Alex: For inspiration and strategic storytelling, I swear by the powerful imagery of We Animals and the revolutionary spirit of Beautiful Trouble. They’re two of my not-so-secret weapons in the fight for a kinder world.

Nazlı: What’s a barrier you’ve faced in your advocacy work — and how have you approached or navigated it?

Alex: How do we continue to apply more and greater pressure in a country that is suppressing free speech and promoting hate? That’s a barrier I face in my activism every day. I feel a deep responsibility to give people safe opportunities to take action while protecting my community from violence and harm.

Nazlı: What would you like to see more of in our movement this year?

Alex: I’d love to see us lift up the incredible work of small, underfunded grassroots organizations working toward animal liberation. I also hope we invite more collaboration, trust, and openness to different approaches for getting there.

Nazlı: Is there an advocate or organization you’re especially excited about or grateful for right now?

Alex: I’m very grateful for the work happening at Transfarmation, APEX Advocacy, and AAC — but honestly, that’s just the beginning. I’m grateful for all of it. We can’t afford to make ourselves small if we want to challenge industries with all the power, money, and government backing.

Nazlı: If you could give your younger self one piece of advice when starting out in advocacy, what would it be?

Alex: You must rest. Protect your bandwidth. It’s okay to agree to disagree. And try new things — it’s fun!

Thank you, Alex!

Alex’s journey — from center stage to farmed animal advocacy — reminds us that the roles we take on can change, and that our values can stay constant throughout. Through the #s-parents channel, Alex is creating space for parent farmed animal advocates, fostering connection, and the kind of support that meets people where they are. We’re lucky to have her as part of the Hive community.
