The Importance of Community
In January 2023 we ran a community survey to better understand how Hive helps farmed animal advocates. We received a total of 135 responses. Here are some results:
An impactful connection can
change your life.
Your new connections may refer you to a job, or co-found a project, or provide you with research that allows you to be significantly more impactful in your work.
Hive focuses on connections because they were neglected in the farmed animal advocacy movement. Traditional routes of networking, such as in-person conferences, are difficult for a global movement that is funding-constrained. This leaves a large proportion of advocates lack the resources and opportunities. We see this gap as an opportunity to help all advocates get connected and collaborate on meaningful work for animals.

Theory of Change
By cultivating online spaces through our Hive Community Slack, centralizing and enhancing access to key information through our Newsletter, and facilitating strategic connections, we will increase and improve knowledge exchange and create more and stronger connections between farmed animal advocates and farmed animal advocacy organizations.
This will lead to increased support for existing advocates and projects, and increased collaboration between advocates.
These in turn will lead to existing farmed animal advocates and farmed animal advocacy projects being more impactful, as well as more impactful farmed animal advocacy projects being started, ultimately reducing more animal suffering or reducing animal suffering faster.
