Community Content: Information you voluntarily share in public Slack channels (e.g., introductions).

Facilitate Networking: We use internal tools, including automated processing (such as translation or summarization services) and artificial intelligence (such as Large Language Models), to analyze member data and public community contributions (e.g., Slack messages in public channels). This helps us facilitate matches, networking, and professional opportunities.
Enhance Communication: This includes providing automated services and personalizing updates.
Comply with Legal Obligations: Meeting our regulatory and safety requirements.
Our Commitment to AI Privacy: While we use AI to help provide a better experience, we prioritize your privacy:
No Training on Your Data: We do not allow third-party AI providers to use your personal data to train their general models.
Internal Access Only: AI-generated insights are accessible only by the Hive team and authorized volunteers.
Human in the Loop: AI tools are used to assist our team in making connections, not to make automated legal or high-stakes decisions about your membership.

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the lawful bases we rely on for processing this information are:

Legitimate Interest: To facilitate networking and community growth, which is the core purpose of Hive.
How we store your personal information
Your data is stored in secure cloud-based systems (Airtable and Pipedrive). As Hive is based in California, your data will be transferred to and processed within the United States. We use Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) and Data Processing Addendums with our service providers to ensure your data receives a level of protection equivalent to EU/UK standards.
Data will be retained as long as a relationship exists with our organization and for 5 years afterward to comply with legal obligations or for analytical purposes. We will dispose of your information by deleting it from our database.
Our partner Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technologies to collect information such as your IP address, referral URL, device type and operating system, location, and pages visited. If you don’t want Google Analytics to be used in your browser, you can also install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

You are not required to pay any charge for exercising your rights. If you make a request, we have one month to respond to you.

Children’s Privacy
Hive services are intended for individuals aged 16 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. If we become aware of such data, we will delete it immediately.
